Tre
Tree · 树
A symbol of growth, and also one of the fundamental structures in computer science, built from nodes and branches.
About Trelum
We chose the name Trelum to reflect what we believe computer science education should be. Children should not simply learn how to use technology. They should develop the logic, creativity and confidence to understand it, build with it, and shape what comes next.
The name
Tre
Tree · 树
A symbol of growth, and also one of the fundamental structures in computer science, built from nodes and branches.
Lum
Light · 光
From lumen, the Latin word for light: the moment of curiosity, discovery and understanding when a new idea suddenly clicks.
The logo
Our logo is the name itself, written in lowercase. The letter “l” at its centre is a single clean stem whose tip is lit, like a match just struck, or a bamboo shoot breaking through the ground.
The stem is the tree: steady, upright, still growing. The lit tip is the light: the point where learning turns into an idea of one’s own.
The two are joined in one unbroken stroke, because for us growth and discovery are not separate steps. They happen together.
The slogan
“Where logic grows” is Tre
We teach children how to think, step by step, so that their reasoning takes root and gets stronger.
“And ideas glow” is Lum
Once a child can think clearly, their own ideas light up, and they have the tools to make those ideas real.
Logic comes first on purpose. It is what turns a bright idea into something a child can actually build.
Meet Lum
A little stem whose tip is lit: the same idea as our logo. Lum’s name comes from lumen, light. Lum is the friend children meet in their Trelum lessons.
Lum isn’t the teacher and isn’t the answer key. Lum stands with children: curious, careful, happy to try, sometimes wrong, and always ready to think it through again together.
Who builds Trelum
Our curriculum team comes from MIT and Georgia Tech (USA), the University of Toronto (Canada) and Aston University (UK), designing with reference to the CSTA 2026 standards. At ages 5–7 we draw on the CS Unplugged approach: cards, stories and hands-on play.
Our promise to families
Work is shared with a teacher only when the child submits it.
No public profiles, social feeds or messaging between children.
Nicknames where possible. No child email or birthday required.
No advertising and nothing designed to keep children hooked.
